Overwater Bungalows in Tahiti

July 2015 Ann 2- Overwater Bungalows in Tahiti

For luxury travelers one destination that always comes to mind is Tahiti, but not just any hotel will do. Overwater bungalows in Tahiti are where it’s at and here are a few things you should know if you dream of a bungalow stay of your very own:

1. This vacation won’t come cheap. If you are trying to keep to a modest budget of under $5,000 go ahead and pick a different destination. This is especially true if you are hoping to include airfare and other costs in that price range.

2. The attire is casual and sunscreen is a must. The year round temperatures are an average of 80 degrees so pack tropical and light. Think loose-fitting fabrics, shorts and swim suits. For dinners guys can don casual slacks and polo shirts while sundresses are acceptable for women. This is not the place to go all out with your best dresses and suits.

3. Plan for at least seven days, but 10 is even better. By the time you arrive on that first day you’ll most likely want to settle in and on your last day you won’t get much site seeing in either so if you plan for a week you’re already down to five days of actual vacationing. Any less than seven days and you’ll end up feeling like you missed out and never got to completely slip into vacation mode.

4. Brush up on your French. French and Tahitian are the official languages. Yes, English is spoken by several people in the tourist hot spots, but it’s better to know as much of the local language as possible to make things easier on yourself.

5. Tahiti is a water sport lovers dream. From scuba diving to snorkeling, jet skiing to windsurfing and everything in between- there is something for every activity level. For land lovers there are also nature hikes and safaris by way of 4×4.

Have you been to Tahiti? If so, what was your favorite part about your stay?
