4 Things to Do in Kapalua, Maui

  1. Climb to the top of inactive Haleakala Volcano

If nothing else, climb to the top for the view. It’s best to visit at dawn if you can get up early enough as the Haleakala sunrises experiences are always breathtaking.. Of course, with the altitude of the Haleakala summit being above sea level, temperatures are chilly compared to the shores in Maui. Prepare yourself by bringing a light sweater or coat.

  1. Take a drive on the “road to Hana”

To be fair this item on our list is more than one activity. This curvy drive features waterfalls, lava cliffs and amazing beaches. Mile by mile of this road is filled with sites and adventures that will inspire and excite you. It’s just under 65 miles long and you can take your own pace visiting the Twin Falls, Paia Town, Ho’okipa lookout, the Garden Of Eden Arboretum, the Hana Lava Tube and more.

  1. Snorkel in Molokini

This crescent shaped top is among the best snorkeling areas in Hawaii. Swim amongst the wildlife and get in touch with your inner fish. In the winter months, skip the snorkeling and enjoy some fabulous whale-watching. The peak months for this are January through March, but you could start to see the whales from around December through April.

  1. Take a trek in Iao Valley State Park

Iao Valley State Park is abundant with Hawaiian history. It offers stunning hiking trails, with a great view of the Iao Needle rock formation.
