Want to get away on a romantic trip for two, but your funds are limited? Don’t worry. There are still great places you can visit even on a tight budget. All it takes is planning, research and creativity.
It’s important to note that the word ‘budget’ is different for everyone. For example, let’s say that you live in California and you’re on a budget, a trip to New York City may break your bank. It would include hundreds of dollars just in airfare and you haven’t even gotten to the Big Apple yet. Instead, a weekend jaunt to a local winery in the Napa Valley region may be more affordable for you. However, that might be one wine tasting that’s too expensive for a couple from Florida to enjoy. The good news is that there are wineries all over the United States including New York, and Michigan, so you might be able to find one close to you.
So it’s best to figure out what your actual budget is first and then determine where you can go from there. Do you only have a few hundred dollars to spend? Consider booking a weekend getaway that is just a few hours from home. You’ll save money on airfare and will have funds for a nice hotel and a few good meals. A little more room in the budget might open up a cruise or a quick island getaway.
Vacationing at a state or national park is also pretty reasonably priced. At the parks you can walk hand in hand on the trails or even camp under the stars.
If you really want to fly the friendly skies for your getaway, your travel agent may also be able to find you a good airfare deal or air/hotel package that fits your budget. Las Vegas often has affordable airfares depending on your original destination, but remember that if you’re a gambler your play money can bust your budget too.
Consider traveling off-season too to reduce your costs. Traveling to a cold area, such as Telluride, Colorado, during the winter lets you nuzzle together as the snowflakes fall, while everyone else travels to the warmer climates.
Finally, if you are looking for an adult’s only romantic getaway, think about booking at all-inclusive resorts, such as Punta Cana, or in Tulum, Mexico, where everything is included, including your food, accommodations and most of your activities, so there are no monetary surprises.
