Traveling with Children

It’s no secret that traveling with children can be a daunting task, but it doesn’t have to be. Here are some simple tricks and tips to make your next trip with your kids easier:

– Give yourself plenty of extra time: Children get stressed when you are stressed and rushing is uncomfortable for everyone. Providing plenty of time to get from place to place will keep everyone calm.

– Take time for snacks and naps: There’s nothing worse than a sleepy or hungry child. Adding in scheduled naps and meals will make for a more pleasant trip.

– Download kid friendly apps to your mobile devices: Anything that can keep your kids occupied during flights and car rides is a good idea to download. Expect that they will quickly lose interest in one or more of the apps however, so download plenty of options.

– Bring a change of clothes and wet naps for the kids on your outings: Kids get dirty and potty accidents happen. Having a change of clothes and wet naps will keep you from having to dart back to the hotel potentially ruining your fun.

– Double check that you have everything your children will need on the trip: Passports, medications, kid’s aspirin and allergy meds- better to be safe than sorry.

– Consider a child-friendly camera: You might be amazed at how something this simple will keep your kids happy and focused when traveling. Plus, you may get photos you never thought to get from your adult eye level.

– Finally, get a child locator for peace of mind: For as little as $35 you can strap a simple device onto your child that will beep if they start to get away from you. This may feel like overkill, but when you are in large places like theme parks that are known for distracting little feet into walking away from mom and dad you’ll feel better knowing that you will be alerted the second they start to wander off.
