Hawaii is one of those amazing destinations that draws millions of tourists annually and yet visiting the state doesn’t mean you will see all of it. In fact, even staying for a week or more might not give you enough time to see all that Hawaii has to offer. It is because of this that we’ve decided to do a series on several Hawaiian destinations to spotlight all that there is to see and do on the various islands. First up, we’ll take a look at Kaanapali, Maui.

Located on the northwestern coast of Maui, Kaanapali is a small town that once was a retreat for the royalty of Maui. Today, it’s one of the top destinations of all of Hawaii. It’s most popular feature is Kaanapali Beach with its three miles of white sand and crystal clear water. Other things to do and enjoy in Kaanapali are:

– Whalers Village: a world- class shopping complex with shops, restaurants and a whale museum

– Two championship golf courses:  the Royal Kaanapali and the Kaanapali Kai.

– Daily cliff diving ceremony: One thing you must see if you visit Kaanapali Beach is the daily sunset cliff diving ceremony. Head to Black Rock where you will watch a cliff diver light a torch, throw it into the ocean and then dive off the cliff. This ceremony is a reenactment of Maui’s revered King Kahekili proving his spiritual strength by jumping from the rock into the Pacific.

– Snorkeling, swimming and scuba diving

– Luaus: All you can eat meals with music and dances from Hawaii and other Polynesian islands- What’s not to love?

– Hiking, biking, zip lining and so much more.
