Fore! Golf Courses You Should Play

travel makers mdDo you want to play on the same courses that Phil Mickelson or Rory McIlroy do? Playing 18 holes on some of the most beautiful golf courses in the world can make for a fabulous vacation. Here are fore, er four, golf courses where you must play.

Located in Pebble Beach, California, this golf course has been the number one selection on Golf Digest’s Top 100 Courses since they started their list back in 2003. It’s easy to see why, with nine holes located high above the Pacific surf. Golf Digest describes the other holes as “Pebble’s sixth through eighth are golf’s real Amen Corner, with a few Hail Mary’s thrown in over an ocean cove on eight from atop a 75-foot-high bluff.” You will walk the same par 72 course that the legendary golfers Sam Snead, Ben Hogan, Jack Nicklaus, and Ben Crenshaw have walked, and won.

Ireland has a long list of great golf courses, including Enniscrone, which was founded back in 1918 as an unrefined nine-hole course near a seaside village. Today, it offers 27 holes on 400 acres of land, featuring the par 73 Dunes Championship Links Course.

Bandon, Oregon is the home of the Bandon Dunes Resort that has four par 3s on the back nine and a 60-acre practice center and comes with a massive putting course called “The Punchbowl.”

In Scotland, there’s St. Andrews (Old Course), a Par 72 golf course, one of the most famous in the world. There are four 18-hole courses, one 9-hole course, and a practice center to accommodate golfers of all skill levels. Reservations are a must.

The Augusta National Golf Club is home to a Par 72 golf course and home to the Masters Golf Championships. It’s a must for any golf lover to play. Three of the sport’s toughest and most famous holes are here: the 11th, 12th, and 13th holes together are also known as “Amen Corner.” Winners of the Masters receive green blazers, so dress the part.

There are so many golf tours and vacations to take part in around the world. A travel agent can help you put together a trip of a lifetime where you can play and walk where the golf greats have played and walked before you.
