‘Tis the ‘ski’sun to be jolly! It’s ski season and Stratton Mountain in Vermont has already been hit hard by the fluffy white stuff. After Winter Storm Caly hit the area at the beginning of December, Cassie Russo, Marketing Coordinator at Stratton Mountain Resort was quoted as saying, “we are on our fifth consecutive day of snowmaking and there’s no end in sight.”
That’s good news to ski buffs, who love gliding down Stratton Mountain, which opened way back in December, 1961 with only three lifts and eight trails. Today, there are 97 trails and an annual snowfall of 180 inches. Stratton Mountain has more than 600 acres of skiing and snowboarding terrain and has been named as a Top 10 or skiing by SKI Magazine.
When you are done with skiing, fuel up for the day or in between runs at the Sun Bowl or the Loft Bar.
If you are a woman who wants to hone her skiing skills, Stratton Mountain Resort also offers a multi-day Women On snoW Camp with other women who are 18+. Whether you are a novice, an intermediate who wants to advance or even an expert who wants to go even further, there is a coach for you. The Camp includes an opening reception, two days of snow instruction, food and other fun adventures, except for lift tickets.
The next dates of the Camp are Sunday, January 8 – Tuesday, January 10, 2017; Friday, January 27 – Sunday, January 29, 2017; and Friday, March 10 – Sunday, March 12, 2017.
Stratton Mountain also offers their fifth annual 24Hours of Stratton, an opportunity to ski or ride around the clock (choose a “shift” or go all-out). 24Hours of Stratton includes fundraising with live music, spectator events, fireworks, good food and great times. The event takes place on January 7 and January 8, and starts with an opening party on Friday. There’s skiing, riding, music, and fireworks.
There are a variety of ski packages available that include lift tickets and accommodations. Stratton Mountain also offers a popular kids stay free option where kids 12 and younger are invited to ski free with their parents in a family friendly Stratton lodging property. The package is only available during specific periods of time so check with their website for further information.
